Description:
How would it feel to be an alien tasked to explore Earth and learn about human life? In Grab It and Go, you are Bopp, an alien anthropologist who is seeking out human "artifacts" to bring back to his homeworld for study. While his ability to phase into and inhabit inanimate objects has enabled him to infiltrate human society as a remote-controlled toy, Bopp has unfortunately caught the eyes of a secretive conspiracy theorist group, and now he has to collect the artifacts he is seeking while avoiding their various attempts to capture him.
Background:
This game was originally a concept I created as a part of my Capstone class at the University of Baltimore. Out of all the concepts created by our class, Grab It and Go was one of the four chosen for actual development. I served as the team lead, programmer, and game and level designer for the project. During this time, I learned a great deal about working with and leading a team, how to resolve disputes, and how to ensure that we always met milestones while also cutting back when the situation demanded it.
Being my first in-depth team experience, I found it to be enlightening and rewarding. Many of the ideas I had come up with for this game would have been impossible for me to achieve on my own, but with the help of a team with different specialties, I was able to see a great deal of my vision brought to life. The experience made me passionate about having more collaborative endeavors such as this, because I now see how much more a team can do over a single person working alone, as I have sometimes done in the past.
